Growth in MATH
As an 84 year old retired educator I am so often dismayed by the difficulty some kids have with answering basic math questions.
I thought that I could use Apple's great platforms and the Swift Language to do something about it.
Make it possible that every child can learn math. It takes focus and discipline mixed with love and nurturing encouragement.
Build On Strong Foundations
There are basic but essential elements that every learner has to understand. When these are mastered in correct progression the growth in math expertise is assured. WE LAY GOOD FOUNDATIONS AND WATCH THE EDIFICE GROW.
Times-2: This free app indicates what the other eight apps Times-3 to Times-10 do.
Educare32: We agree with the prominent educator, John Mighton that "Trying to do math without knowing your times tables is like trying to play the piano without knowing the location of the notes on the keyboard."
Educare32: We strongly believe that appropriate visuals and sounds enhance learning.
Children see actual math symbols in a math specific setting, e.g. "3X5 = 15", uncluttered with cartoon characters.
Times-2 to Times-10 provide materials for discovery. We hope that parents working with their children will help the discovery of what's shown on the graphics:
2x6 = 12 and 6X2 = 12.
Educare32: Times-2 to Times-10 make it possible to repeat the 'Tutor Scene' by pressing 'Start' over and over again. Explore different features at different times.
We hope that the 'Quiz' will be done a number of times with five as an upper limit. Parent and child can 'compete' to give the correct result. Of course as parents from time to time the child will 'win.'
Times-2: Times-2, like Times-3 to Times-10, encourages counting by different values: 2s, 3s, 4s ...
Educare32: The 'Tutor Scenes' try to capture attention with the falling blocks as a substitute for actual physical countable elements.
